I'm Stacia Patin, an artist based in Downtown Raleigh, North Carolina with roots from Northern California. I'm thrilled to share with you my passion for creating beautiful art that celebrates life's most treasured moments.
I started Stacia’s Studio in January 2024, just one year ago, so I’m still learning and growing, and this last year has been so unique and special to me. I’ve learned so much, built my website + design shop, an Etsy shop, sold quite a few commissions and original art, participated in 4 local markets and have a solo exhibition coming up in December 2025. See details about my upcoming events below.
My artistic journey began at an early age, I always loved drawing and had a natural spacial talent but I didn’t start building my skill level until college where I studied fine arts, minoring in psychology, with plans to pursue art therapy. I fell in love with watercolor painting my first year because I love the vibrant washes and unique granular flow the medium unlocks, as well as the challenge of working with an art medium that has low control.
However, post college, I took a different path. As I’m sure many can relate, building a reputation as an artist felt very scary. I didn’t have the confidence to put my work out for public criticism yet and I didn’t have financial stability to take the risk of building something myself. So I put those dreams on hold while I pursued a more stable career path. Being from the Bay Area, I was able to find a job at a company in San Francisco which was an exciting new adventure and one which led me to my next passion, digital marketing.

Speaking on a panel at an industry standard marketing event, Mobile App Unlocked!
In moving to San Francisco in 2011, I was surrounded by new experiences, new ideas and adventure. It was all so exciting. I was at the epicenter of growth for the digital ecosystem with companies like Google, Facebook and hundreds of start-ups striving to be the next unicorn. It was all intriguing and I realized there was so much to learn and I discovered a great passion for digital marketing. I dug deep into understanding SEO, content creation, SEM, Programmatic Display, Social, machine learning, attribution, etc and my passion deepened for finding meaningful insights that support actionable tactics that drive performance marketing strategy.
After about 5 years in B2B, B2C businesses, I was fortunate to find what I felt was the PERFECT industry for me. I began working for Shutterfly in 2015 and then Mixbook in 2022, both personalization platforms that help everyday people become designers of their own memories. Something I was very excited to be a part of!
This time grew my passion for helping people preserve their memories with unique and tangible keepsakes and I loved my time at those companies. However, over the years, I found myself drawn back to the craft of making things with my hands. So, I decided to more fully pursue watercolor painting! I started creating gifts for friends and family and found so much joy in seeing the happiness from giving those meaningful, bespoke gifts. I knew then I needed to build something to make it easier to scale my work. So I took the bold step of leaving my job in late 2023 to pursue my art and expand my commission efforts and Stacia’s Studio was born!

Stacia’s Studio is evolving… just like me. As I grow in my art creation and process, I’m figuring out what I want this space to be and it will continue to evolve. My overall hope in life is to keep growing and reflecting on my experiences. I’ve learned that digging into my curiosity with persistence can unlock magical things and that even though I go through discouraging moments and even fail at times, the key to success is moving forward with courage and tenacity. Though the decision to act may seem small in the moment, it’s powerful to look back and see how far I’ve actually come.
In looking into ways to make art more accessible, I’ve created a collection of bespoke products using my hand-painted art. So you can shop my art here on Stacia’s Studio! I’ve created a collection of my original art for sale, wall art prints (canvas and art paper), tote bags, phone cases and AirPod cases! Every piece I create is designed with care and I strive to share designs that are vibrant, expressionist, playful and most of all joyful. I’ve truly loved creating these products and I hope you love them too.

Artist Statement: This collection of paintings showcases the beauty and variety of North Carolina by showcasing 3 distinctly diverse places I have visited frequently around this state: The Outer Banks, The Neuse River and The Blue Ridge Parkway. These 3 capsule collections capture memories painted from a mix of ‘en plein air’ (painted outdoors on location) and photographs taken on trips to these locations. In each painting, I endeavored to expressively capture the variety and essence of each place utilizing the wet-on-wet watercolor technique for most of the pieces to create a soft, ethereal effect focused on color and emphasizing the organic nature of watercolors. During my time in these locations, I looked to capture diversity of weather, time of day and season to showcase the variety of color and beauty these places evoke.
My Process: Most paintings are painted with the wet-on-wet watercolor technique on 300 lbs. cold-press watercolor paper. I have been experimenting with the technique of completely submerging the paper in water for 10-15 minutes and then working quickly, without any underdrawings until they dry, usually within about 1-2 hrs. This forces me to work intuitively to capture the energy of the place with wash-like impressions of the landscape. Since watercolor pigments flow with this technique can be unpredictable, the pigments flow with little control, the paint dries lighter and organic variations appear as you dry, you must account for that while painting this way. This loss of control is both challenging and exciting for me, each piece a becomes a bit of a surprise, and part of the excitement of this process is that the more I play with the medium the stronger my understanding of the different pigments and how they will appear when dry. I love working with super-granulating pigments, watercolor sticks, salt, color lifting and scratching to get different effects and textures and continue to explore the beautiful organic variations you can achieve despite the fluid nature of this technique.
