bookbinding
In college I took a bookbinding class and I loved it so much I initially thought I wanted to start a business doing bookbinding! I love it because i’m drawn to making things that have a specific purpose but that also is unique and personal to the individual. Most of the items I’ve created have been hand-made or hand sewn blank journals, but I’ve also done book rebinding and repairs for treasured heirlooms.
Stylization preferences: I prefer working with deckled edge paper, which refers to a combination of the raw paper edge from the press or a controlled hand ripped paper edge. I love using distressed leathers which have a very bespoke aesthetic and wear beautifully over time. These details give my journals a one-of-a-kind look. While it’s not my current focus, if you’re interested in creating a unique journal or rebinding an existing treasured book, contact me.
